Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar Jul-Aug 2009 - Abbadia Ardenga

2004 Abbadia Ardenga Brunello di Montalcino

Bright, dark red. Enticing aromas of dark cherry, licorice, flowers and spicy oak; turned a bit more woodsy and less vibrant with aeration. Suave on entry, but with firm acids framing the red fruit, spice and floral flavors. Offers good clean fruit in a somewhat modern style. Finishes juicy, with dusty tannins that grew with aeration. This wine seemed to lose a bit of verve as it opened in the glass. (Market Wine Inc., Davie, FL)
